Preaching through the Gospel of Luke, this sermon series seeks to present a fuller picture of the Easter narrative of a suffering but victorious Jesus. The focus of Easter is Jesus. Beginning with Jesus’ struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane, to being abandoned by one of his closest disciples, Peter, all the way to his crucifixion, Jesus suffers for us and stays resilient to the end. The narrative doesn’t end with Jesus’ death, but continues with Jesus’ resurrection and ascension. This sermon will also tackle the question of how do we know that Jesus died, resurrect, and ascend to heaven? And what is the significance of each event for us today?
