Children Ministry Pastor

This posting is for a Full-Time Position, 40 Hours/week.

Position Description
The Toronto Christian Community Church is a multilingual church. The Children Ministry Pastor will oversee weekly Sunday school operations for 3 congregations, children fellowship, day camp and children mission programs. Candidates for the position will have demonstrated extensive experience working with children of various ages, in a church environment.

Key Responsibilities
This leader will have the capacity to:

  • Equip children to grow in their faith and to encounter God’s transforming presence,
  • Lead and develop a healthy team of teachers and helpers, and
  • Liaise well with the parents of the children involved at TCCC.

Teaching and Curriculum:

  • Oversee/facilitate weekly Sunday school operations
  • Prepare a yearly teaching roster for English/Mandarin and Noon time Sunday school
  • Regularly teach Christian education classes
  • Prepare and provide training to new teachers and helpers
  • Provide resources, training and opportunities for the teachers and helpers to grow in their spiritual development, gifts and skills.
  • Select, organize and prepare curriculum before the beginning of Sunday school year
  • Prepare, develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities for children
  • Coordinate children’s programs during worship services
  • Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers for various children’s ministry roles
  • Plan and organize special events and activities for children throughout the year
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to ensure alignment and integration of children’s ministry within the overall church vision

Ministry Programs:

  • Oversee children ministry programs: Sunday School, Children’s fellowship, Summer day camp, ACEM children missions programs, and Annual Family Fun Fair
  • Coordinate/supervisor/support the various programs
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Plan and execute engaging events, outings, and service projects that appeal to children interests and passions.
  • Coordinate logistics, recruit volunteers, and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

    Pastoral care 

  • Build meaningful relationships with children and their families, fostering a sense of belonging and community within the church.
  • Build relationships with parents and caregivers, providing resources and support for their children’s spiritual growth
  • Collaborate with other church ministries to create opportunities for intergenerational connections and support.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage administrative activities for the ministry
  • Attend and lead Children Ministry (CM) committee meetings. Attend the English and/or (Cantonese/Mandarin) pastoral meetings (when call upon).
  • Actively contribute to the growth and development of the pastoral team, which includes but isn’t limited to pastor meetings, pastor retreats, staff meetings, vision meetings, etc.
  • Cooperate and assist all church-wide events/programs.
  • Administrative tasks, bulleting announcements, budget setting, etc.

Experience, Skills and Abilities and Personal Characteristics 

  • A firm commitment to the vision and mission of Toronto Christian Community Church
  • Passionate to spiritually grow children
  • 2-3 years experience in church ministry working with children
  • Passionate in supporting the church in its ministries and fostering positive relationships with the church community and public on behalf of the church
  • Strong values with a growth mindset and energetic attitude
  • Self-motivated, willing to take responsibility for actions and work
  • Speak English. Asset to speak Cantonese and/Mandarin

Youth Outreach Ministry Worker

This posting is for a Full-Time Position, 40 Hours/week.

Position Description
Toronto Christian Community Church, a multi-language church in South Markham, Ontario, has served its community and beyond since 1975, with a mission to grow Christ’s disciples and impact the world through compassion and reconciliation. The church also operates the 105 Gibson Centre, a community care hub dedicated to serving the local area and sharing Jesus’ love. The Saturday Cantonese contemporary worship, started two years ago, now has 180 attendees, mostly young people from Hong Kong seeking purpose. Monthly events like Chill Saturday bring in 50-70 non-believers. We’re looking for mature Christians to join our pastoral team in reaching Cantonese-speaking youth through activities like social media, coffee meetups, basketball, and gospel sharing.

The Youth Outreach Ministry Worker, reporting to the Young Adult Pastor, will:

  • Organize programs, handle logistics, and coordinate with volunteers and service providers.
  • Recruit and reach out to seekers with volunteer support.
  • Care for seekers and guide them to Christ.
  • Support newcomers in settling into the church and fellowships.
  • Build connections to foster community and spiritual growth.

Qualifications and Traits:

  • A pleasant personality, friendly, team-oriented, self-motivated, and open-minded.
  • Strong Bible study skills.
  • Leadership to inspire and create momentum.
  • A university degree.
  • Familiarity with church environments and experience working with pastors.
  • Experience and passion for outreach, especially in a Canadian context.
