Children’s Ministry Pastor (Full-Time 40 hours per week)


Position Description

The Toronto Christian Community Church is a multilingual church (English, Cantonese, Mandarin), celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, and is a member of ACEM (Association of Christian Evangelical Ministries). Currently, it holds holistic ministries with services at 100 Acadia Ave and 105 Gibson Centre for outreach. The Children’s Ministry Pastor will oversee weekly Sunday school operations, children’s fellowship programs, day camps, and children’s mission programs. Candidates for the position will have demonstrated direct experience working with children of various ages, from Newborn to Grade 8, in a church environment, fostering the growth of missional disciples of Jesus Christ and impacting the world with compassion and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

This leader will have the capacity to:

  • Strategize the ministry in collaboration with all three congregations, under the supervision of the Senior Pastor to fulfill mission statement of TCCC
  • Lead and develop the children’s ministry’s team of teachers and helpers
  • Equip children to grow in their faith and encounter God’s transforming presence
  • Liaise with the parents of the children involved in TCCC.

Teaching and Curriculum:

    • Oversee/facilitate weekly Sunday school operations and coordinate children’s programs during worship services
    • Prepare a yearly teaching roster for Sunday school
    • Regularly teach Christian education classes
    • Select, organize and prepare curriculum before the beginning of Sunday school year
    • Prepare, develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities for children
    • Recruit, train, mentor and equip teachers, helpers, and volunteers, providing opportunities for their spiritual growth and skills development
    • Plan and organize special events and activities for children throughout the year
    • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to ensure alignment and integration of children’s ministry within the overall church vision

Ministry Programs:

    • Oversee children ministry programs:
      • Sunday School,
      • Awana Ministry,
      • Children Fellowships,
      • Annual events (Summer Day Camps, ACEM Children’s Mission Program, Family Fun Fair)
    • Coordinate/supervise/support the various children’s programs
    • Event Planning and Coordination: Plan and execute engaging events, outings, and projects that appeal to children’s interests and passions
    • Coordinate logistics and recruit volunteers
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants

Pastoral care

    • Build meaningful relationships with children and their families, fostering a sense of belonging and community within the church
    • Build relationships with parents and caregivers, providing resources and support for their children’s spiritual growth
    • Collaborate with other church ministries to create opportunities for intergenerational connections and support

Other Responsibilities:

    • Manage administrative activities for the ministry
    • Attend and lead Children’s Ministry (CM) committee meetings
    • Attend pastoral meetings
    • Actively contribute to the growth and development of the pastoral team through pastoral meetings, pastoral retreats, staff meetings, vision meetings, etc.
    • Cooperate and assist in all church-wide events / programs
    • Prepare budgets, bulletin announcements, etc.
    • Liaise with other churches on children’s ministry initiatives

Experience, Skills, and Personal Characteristics

  • A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and a firm commitment to the vision and mission of Toronto Christian Community Church
  • Possesses an MDiv, or its equivalent from an evangelical seminary
  • Passionate about children’s spiritual formation
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
  • Proficiency in either Cantonese or Mandarin is required
  • Cultural awareness in a multilingual church setting
  • Supporting the church in its ministries and fostering positive relationships with the church community and the public
  • Strong values with a growth mindset and energetic attitude
  • Self-motivated, proactive, willing to take responsibility for actions and work
  • Direct experience in church ministry working with children would be beneficial

Full-Time Finance Administrator

Introduction

Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) is a multi-language church in the Southern part of Markham, Ontario. We have served the community and beyond since 1975, with a mission to grow missional disciples of Jesus Christ to impact the world through compassion and reconciliation. The church also operates the neighbouring 105 Gibson Centre, a community care centre dedicated to serve the locals and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus.

General Responsibilities

The Finance Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the church, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and responsible stewardship of resources. This role supports the ministry and mission of Toronto Christian Community Church by managing at a minimum level the budgeting, bookkeeping, payroll coordination, financial reporting, and donor record-keeping with integrity and care.

The position reports to the Church Treasurer and collaborates closely with the Finance Committee, Administrative staff, Pastoral staff, and ministry leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management & Bookkeeping
    • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and monthly closings.
    • Process accounts payable and receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Manage petty cash and reimbursement claims and prepare cheque requisitions.
    • Oversee donations, prepare deposit summaries, and ensure proper handling of funds in accordance with CRA guidelines.
  1. Payroll & Benefits Coordination
    • Coordinate payroll processing in collaboration with payroll service providers.
    • Maintain accurate staff records related to compensation and benefits, such as calculating vacation special pay (VSP) for part-time staff and full time vacation entitlement.
  1. Budgeting & Reporting
    • Assist in preparing annual and ministry budgets.
    • Monitor actual expenditures against budgeted figures and alert leadership to variances.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Church Treasurer, Finance Committee, and church leadership.
    • Support financial audit processes and year-end reporting.
  1. Donation Management & Tax Receipts
    • Maintain accurate donor records and issue official tax receipts.
    • Process Gift-in-Kind donations in accordance with established procedures.
    • Respond to inquiries related to donations and receipts.
    • Work with ministry leaders to ensure proper allocation and tracking of designated funds.
  1. Financial Policies & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., CRA, charitable status).
    • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance financial transparency and efficiency.
  1. Team Collaboration & Support
    • Collaborate with the Church Treasurer, Finance Coordinator, Administrative Pastor, and Finance Committee.
    • Provide financial data and support to ministry staff as needed.
    • Support fundraising campaigns and special projects with financial tracking.

Experience, Skills, and Personal Characteristics

  • A firm commitment to the vision and mission of Toronto Christian Community Church.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance—preferably in a non-profit or charitable environment.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Discreet and trustworthy, with a high level of integrity when handling confidential information.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative, service-minded attitude.
  • Subscribe to TCCC’s tenets of faith, constitution, and seriously consider joining TCCC membership within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple priorities at the same time
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, willing to take responsibility for actions and work
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese (Speaking Mandarin is an asset).
