Position Description

Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) is a multilingual (English, Cantonese, Mandarin) church in Markham, Ontario, Canada, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. A member of ACEM, TCCC serves through holistic ministries at 100 Acadia Ave. and the 105 Gibson Centre.
We are seeking a Children’s Ministry Pastor to provide vision, leadership, and pastoral care for children from newborn to Grade 8. This role oversees Sunday School, children’s fellowship, seasonal day camps, and mission initiatives, fostering the growth of missional disciples of Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the children’s ministry team of teachers, helpers, and volunteers.
  • Oversee Sunday School, Awana, fellowships, and annual children’s events (e.g., day camps, Family Fun Fair).
  • Teach and implement age-appropriate curriculum and programs.
  • Build strong relationships with children, parents, and families, equipping them for spiritual growth.
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff and other ministries to support the overall vision of TCCC.
  • Ensure safe, welcoming, and effective ministry operations.

Qualifications

  • A devoted follower of Jesus Christ with a passion for children’s ministry.
  • Relevant ministry experience in a church context.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and relational skills.

Introduction

Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) is a multi-language church in the Southern part of Markham, Ontario. We have served the community and beyond since 1975, with a mission to grow missional disciples of Jesus Christ to impact the world through compassion and reconciliation. The church also operates the neighbouring 105 Gibson Centre, a community care centre dedicated to serve the locals and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus.

General Responsibilities

The Finance Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the church, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and responsible stewardship of resources. This role supports the ministry and mission of Toronto Christian Community Church by managing at a minimum level the budgeting, bookkeeping, payroll coordination, financial reporting, and donor record-keeping with integrity and care.

The position reports to the Church Treasurer and collaborates closely with the Finance Committee, Administrative staff, Pastoral staff, and ministry leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management & Bookkeeping
    • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and monthly closings.
    • Process accounts payable and receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Manage petty cash and reimbursement claims and prepare cheque requisitions.
    • Oversee donations, prepare deposit summaries, and ensure proper handling of funds in accordance with CRA guidelines.
  1. Payroll & Benefits Coordination
    • Coordinate payroll processing in collaboration with payroll service providers.
    • Maintain accurate staff records related to compensation and benefits, such as calculating vacation special pay (VSP) for part-time staff and full time vacation entitlement.
  1. Budgeting & Reporting
    • Assist in preparing annual and ministry budgets.
    • Monitor actual expenditures against budgeted figures and alert leadership to variances.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Church Treasurer, Finance Committee, and church leadership.
    • Support financial audit processes and year-end reporting.
  1. Donation Management & Tax Receipts
    • Maintain accurate donor records and issue official tax receipts.
    • Process Gift-in-Kind donations in accordance with established procedures.
    • Respond to inquiries related to donations and receipts.
    • Work with ministry leaders to ensure proper allocation and tracking of designated funds.
  1. Financial Policies & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., CRA, charitable status).
    • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance financial transparency and efficiency.
  1. Team Collaboration & Support
    • Collaborate with the Church Treasurer, Finance Coordinator, Administrative Pastor, and Finance Committee.
    • Provide financial data and support to ministry staff as needed.
    • Support fundraising campaigns and special projects with financial tracking.

Experience, Skills, and Personal Characteristics

  • A firm commitment to the vision and mission of Toronto Christian Community Church.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance—preferably in a non-profit or charitable environment.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Discreet and trustworthy, with a high level of integrity when handling confidential information.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative, service-minded attitude.
  • Subscribe to TCCC’s tenets of faith, constitution, and seriously consider joining TCCC membership within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple priorities at the same time
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, willing to take responsibility for actions and work
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese (Speaking Mandarin is an asset).
