100th Markham Scout Group Program

TCCC is so blessed to have seen the Scouts ministry happened on September of 2003. As with all pioneer work, this Scout ministry took a lot of planning beforehand. After two years of thought and planning and discussions with leaders (both Scout Canada and TCCC), we were able to set in motion this new ministry with the church’s blessings.

This ministry is run in conjunction with our church children Christian education as well as the Evangelism Department. This partnership we hope will achieve the objective of seeing more community children and their families come to church.

Presently, we have three sections of children; the Beaver section (5-7 yrs.), the Cub section (8-10 yrs.). and the Scout section (11-13 yrs.). Our volunteers are all trained in Scouting leadership, First Aid and outdoor camping skills. They have weekly programs on the first three Saturday afternoons from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. As the children attend these meetings, they will be introducing to both life skills and Christian teachings that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. We are proud to have already brought your children to places of community service like the EMS in Markham ; the OPP detachment, the Parliament at Queens Park . Some of them have received “The Chief Scouts Award’, that is recognized by the Parliament. During every second meeting of each month, we also have a Parents’ Group meeting, in which we assist the group’s fundraising events and discuss parenting skills.

Our Group Committee as well as our Scout leaders are all supported by Scouts Canada and their representatives. We also have a Group Commissioner and a Vice-Group Commissioner to supervise both the activities and the administration in every program.

This partnership we have also extends to you the members of TCCC family. We look forward in the future for you to also bring yourself to be involved in this kind of ministry that help shape and mold the young minds not only in their ways to better serve the community but also to better serve our Lord Jesus.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. – 1 John 5:1
